The case for a comparative and interdisciplinary
approach to Labour Relations
6th International Conference in Memory of Professor Marco Biagi
Modena (Italy), 15-19 March 2008
The 6th International Conference in Memory of Professor Marco Biagi is dedicated to the problems of the new world of work and is aimed at achieving a better understanding of how to re-focus academic research, public policies and trade union strategies through an interdisciplinary and comparative approach to industrial and labour relations.
The School for Advanced Studies in Industrial and Labour Relation of ADAPT and the Marco Biagi Foundation (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia – Italy)invite professors,researchers,doctoral students,experts, practitioners and other interested persons in the area of labour law, labour economics, labour organisation, and human resources management to present contributions reflecting national cases and / or international developments relating to the issue of workers’ rights protection in new labour law, economy, and work organisation.
Papers submitted to the conference may then be sent for blind refereeing for a special issue of The International Journal of Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations (Kluwer Law International) and the Italian journal Diritto delle Relazioni Industriali (Giuffrè Editore).
How to participate:
Those intending to participate should submit an abstract by email (max 1500 words) to the conference convenor by 30 November 2007 (csmb@unimore.it). For those invited to present a paper, the deadline for the submission of the full paper (min 3000 - max 15,000 words) is 1 March 2008. The deadline for submission of the final paper to be considered for the special issue of The International Journal of Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations and Diritto delle Relazioni Industriali is 1 September 2008.
Each author of papers selected will be entitled to reimbursement of travel costs (up to 200 euros for the travels in the EU and up to 400 euros for extra-European travels) plus hospitality costs.

deadline for our confirmation: 31 December 2007
deadline for submission of papers for the conference: 1 March 2008
deadline for submission of papers to be considered for publication: 1 September 2008
Ph. D Conference:
Within the framework of this international event a Ph.D Conference open to doctoral students and Ph. D graduates from all over the world will take place. Interested persons are invited to present a written paper (max. 30 pages) on their research project by 31 December 2007. The deadline for our confirmation is 1February 2008. If selected they will be presented in a special section of the conference.
The Academic Advisory Board of the School for Advanced Studies in Industrial and Labour Relation of ADAPT and the Marco Biagi Foundation will select up to 15 papers and the winners will receive reimbursement of hospitality costs.
Social Events (Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 March 2008):
uided tour of Milan – Visit to The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, Castello Sforzesco and Palazzo Marino. Guided tour of Modena and / or Reggio Emilia.
